Q: Can't I buy the pieces and install them myself?
A: What you see is not pieces or sections. The breaks you see approximately every 3' are expansion / control joints. The concrete curbing is mixed and installed on each job site creating you a custom border to fit your landscape. Back to Top
Q: How long will my concrete curb of border last?
A: With proper care your border can last a lifetime. Compared to other edging alternatives, it won't rot like wood, break like plastic or shift like bricks. Back to Top
Q: How deep do you dig and how deep is the footing?
A: We dig about 2 " inches deep by 10 inches wide. This can be done without disturbing your existing landscape beds. There is no footer as the curb is concrete and is its own footing. Back to Top
Q: Will the curbing crack?
A: All concrete will crack. We take every precaution to limit the cracking and try to control it with expansion joints. Expansion joints are placed every 3-4 feet which will hide the cracks. Back to Top
Q: Are you limited to a design layout?
A: Concrete curbing is ideal for most any terrain. A small concrete extruding machine is very easily maneuvered, thereby providing the design flexibility needed for your specific lawn type. It curves, circles, or extrudes straight lines to allow you any design your heart desires. Back to Top
Q: How effective is a Concrete Edge in keeping out grass?
A: Extruded concrete curbing has a proven track record at preventing sod from entering your landscape beds. Your constant (losing) fight to keep sod out of your flower beds ended with this invention. You also do not have weeds growing in between this edging since it is all one continuous piece, nor can the sod grow under it if it is prepared correctly. There are a few different molds (shapes) to choose from. The most common is "slant" & "mower" style. With our machine, both molds have a minimum 4" heights in back and 2" on front. The curb is actually 6" wide. Our molds are designed high enough to keep sod from growing through it, and also high enough on the back to retain your bed covering, such as mulch. As long as your area is prepared properly and your grass clippings do not go into your flower bed, you will not have creeping sod in your flower bed area any longer! Back to Top
Q: Does this process damage my lawn or flowerbeds, and what can I do to prepare for the installation?
A: There will not be any damage to your landscape! In fact, we recommend your sod, flowerbeds, and sprinkler systems be installed prior to our arrival. Once you approve the design of your flower bed, we sod cut the design with a 10" sod cutter so you will have that beautiful smooth flowing curb. Not only does that remove the sod for placement of the curb, but also gives you the opportunity to see the flow of the bed area prior to the installation of the curb. In other words, it still isn't too late to change your mind on the flow. Back to Top
Q: When can I let my pets, kids and irrigation loose?
A: The concrete curb is very vulnerable during the first twenty-four hours of installation. It is imperative to keep guests, children, and pets away from the curb for the first few days. In addition, many homeowners have irrigation systems which need to be turned off the day before our arrival and not turned back on until two days after installation. After the first few days, the curb is strong enough that animals and children cannot hurt the curb if they step on it. Back to Top
Q: What is this going to cost?
A: Concrete curbing prices vary on shape, stamps, colors, terrain and prep work involved. It will cost the average homeowner between $7.5 - $8.5 a linear foot which includes color and stamp or roller. Additional options such as light molds, textures and stamps, custom stamps or many tree rings will affect the price. Please call for your free estimate! Back to Top
This process is far cheaper than any other commercial alternative. The only thing that comes close to curbing in price is the do-it-yourself products. The good news is - you don't have to do it yourself! None of the do-it-yourself options offer the quality and convenience of a continuous concrete barrier. Extruded concrete can follow the contours of your yard including up & down hills and around wooded areas. Back to Top
Q: Is the color painted or stained on the curb?
A: All of the colors are mixed into the concrete during the mixing process on site. The color will not flake off or disappear over time. We add a sealer to protect the color, release agents and general integrity of the curb. Back to Top
Q: What Are My Design Options?
A: You have almost unlimited design options. With over 24 color choices, 6 antique release agents, 20 different shapes, & 24 different patterns, the number of different design combinations is endless. Since the concrete is extruded in a continuous form, it's possible to create dramatic curves and effects. We can help you change the appearance of a long, narrow, box shaped yard into a beautifully proportioned flowing landscape. To further enhance your design, we can add lighting and even stamped walkways. If you have a custom design or company logo you would like, we can have your design made! Back to Top
Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare for your arrival?
A: There are a few things that our crew will need in order to complete the job. We will need access to a water source (hose hook-up). You will need to have any and all subterranean objects marked. We are not responsible for contacting the utility department or identifying these objects (e.g. invisible fences, cable lines, sprinkler systems, etc.). We can move some irrigation lines if need be, but an additional charge will apply. Back to Top
Q: Are forms set to do concrete landscape curbing?
A: No, a machine that extrudes the concrete into a continuous concrete border is used. Back to Top
Q: How long does the process take?
A: Depending on the type and footage of the installation, it normally takes only 1 day. Back to Top
Q: Do you use reinforcement in your curbing?
A: Yes, reinforced fibers are used in the curbing to provide a 3-dimensional support system throughout your curbing. For commercial jobs, rebar can be placed before laying the curb. Back to Top
Q: Will I be able to mow up against my curbing?
A: Your curbing will be as strong as 2000psi and will with stand your mowers weight to ride along the edge of the curbing. The blades of your mower will not damage your curbing, and will allow you to mow right up against it, resulting in less time spent weed eating around your landscaped areas. Back to Top
Q: Can anyone install this curbing?
A: Unlike other landscape installations, your curbing is extruded and formed onsite; therefore, you are not buying a product but a service as the curbing does not come in blocks. We also like to think of it as a work of art. We take into consideration the shapes and contours of the design. Back to Top
Q: Can I place a concrete curb on asphalt?
A: Yes, we can place your curb on almost any terrain including existing concrete and asphalt. Back to Top
Q: What about drainage?
A: If we see a situation where drainage will be a problem, a 5/8" drain will be placed in the curb to allow drainage for any water retention. Back to Top
Q: What are you going to do with all the sod you remove?
A: During the process sod removed for curb installation will be placed in a shady place. If you would like for us to place any sod in bare spots, an additional cost may incur. Back to Top
